June in Perth

June

With winter approaching and the rainy season upon us, we decided to spend a couple weekends at home to do some exploring locally in the city of Fremantle and Perth.  We hiked around Lake Richmond, Lake Walyungup, and Lake Cooloongup, which are all mainly dried up lakes with a little bit of water in the middle, but made for nice walks.  We also visited the Maritime Museum and Shipwreck Museum in Fremantle, and the Bell Tower and South Bank in Perth.  Here are some of the photos.

Funny places where Aussies put hiking trails.
Enjoy your hike, but don't step on any landmines!

When we finally found water, it was like we were on the moon.
Noah had fun hopping from one island to the next.  The trick was that some were hard, and some were soft, so you didn't know what you were stepping on until you landed.

Pearl harvesting was and still is a major industry in the northern part of WA.

The "Ovens" Submarine is on display at the Maritime Museum.
Unfortunately we couldn't tour it because of the high winds the day we were there.
